FAQ
We have the answers.
NoBoringDesign is a boutique creative agency that helps scaling brands turn brand, web, and motion into meaningful business growth. We work closely with marketing teams to deliver thoughtful, high-quality design that strengthens brand presence, supports campaigns, and drives real results.
Our work combines strategic thinking with reliable execution. Whether supporting an in-house team or acting as an extension of your creative function, we bring experienced designers, a structured workflow, and a collaborative process that keeps projects moving forward. We ensure consistent brand execution across every touchpoint without the constraints of hourly billing or fragmented freelance support.
While our services are delivered through a flexible design subscription model, what clients value most is the partnership: a creative team that understands their brand, contributes to their growth strategy, and consistently delivers work that performs.
We believe great design starts with taking care of the humans behind it. Our team is our most valuable asset, so we prioritize the wellbeing of the whole person. That’s why we offer strong medical and mental health support so our creatives can thrive and do their best work for our clients.
The right plan depends on the volume of creative work your team needs and how many projects you’d like to run simultaneously.
Our Ignite plan is ideal for smaller marketing teams that need consistent design support and typically work on one project at a time.
Elevate is designed for scaling teams that need more creative capacity and want to move multiple projects forward in parallel.
Amplify is best suited for high-growth companies managing a larger volume of creative work across campaigns, marketing initiatives, and product launches. With a larger creative team supporting your account, you can run more projects simultaneously and handle more complex design needs.
If you're unsure which option is right for your team, we’re happy to review your workflow and recommend the best setup for your creative needs.
A design subscription service provides ongoing access to a creative team for a predictable monthly fee. Instead of hiring freelancers or agencies on a per-project basis, companies work with a dedicated creative partner who supports their design needs through a structured workflow.
At NoBoringDesign, this model functions as a flexible creative subscription. Clients gain ongoing design support across marketing creative, campaign assets, website design support, and other brand initiatives, while still having the option to engage us for larger fixed scope projects when needed.
A fixed scope project is usually the right choice when your company is tackling a specific initiative that requires focused creative work and a defined timeline.
For example, many clients come to us when their brand no longer reflects the maturity of their business, or when their website has become outdated, difficult to manage, or no longer supports their growth goals. In these situations, a clearly scoped project - such as a brand refresh or website redesign - allows us to focus on delivering a complete solution.
A design subscription plan is better suited for companies that need ongoing design support across multiple initiatives. This often includes marketing campaigns, website updates, sales materials, and day-to-day creative work that supports an active marketing team.
In many cases, clients begin with a fixed scope project and then transition into a subscription to support their ongoing marketing and growth needs.
Many clients come to us when their brand or website no longer reflects the maturity of their business or when their digital presence needs to be modernized to support future growth.
Once these projects are complete, most clients move into a creative retainer so they can promote their new brand, launch campaigns, and apply their refreshed identity consistently across all marketing materials.
All engagements are invoiced with Net 30 payment terms.
Design Subscription Plans are billed monthly based on your engagement start date, and renewal preference.
Clients have a few options for invoicing:
- Standard Invoicing - With a mid-month activation, only the first month is prorated to account for extra days at the start of the engagement. Subsequent billing aligns with a turn-of-month renewal.
- Alternative Invoicing - With a mid-month activation, both the first and last months are prorated to keep a mid-month renewal cycle.
- Calendar Month Start Invoicing – The engagement is activated on the first day of the month, for a clean alignment with turn-of-month renewals.
This way, you can choose the schedule that works best for your particular accounting and cash flow needs.
For fixed scope projects, the total project cost can often be split into monthly payments across the agreed project timeline.
Full details are provided in your contract.
Our branding services are designed to support companies at different stages of growth through three structured branding packages: Brand Core, Brand Orbit, and Brand Legacy.
Each package includes a different depth of strategic and visual work.
- Brand Core focuses on building the essential visual identity of a brand, including logo design, color palette, typography, visual direction, and a micro brand guide.
- Brand Orbit expands those foundations into a structured brand system with logo variations, an extended visual identity, brand guidelines, and selected brand applications.
- Brand Legacy delivers a full brand platform combining strategy, messaging, a comprehensive design system, application examples, and a detailed brand manual.
Brand strategy defines how your brand competes and communicates in the market. It includes positioning, audience insights, messaging, and the overall narrative behind your brand.
Brand identity is the visual expression of that strategy. It includes elements such as your logo, typography, color palette, design system, and brand guidelines.
At NoBoringDesign, all of our branding packages include the development of a brand identity. The difference lies in the level of strategic depth that informs that identity:
- Brand Core focuses on visual identity foundations. If deeper strategic direction is needed, a brand strategy add-on can be included.
- Brand Orbit includes a light brand strategy foundation to guide the development of the identity system.
- Brand Legacy includes a full brand strategy phase, with workshops, positioning, and messaging development before the identity is created.
This structure allows companies to choose the level of strategic input that best fits their stage of growth, while ensuring a strong and cohesive brand identity in every case.
Yes. Every branding engagement includes brand guidelines that document how your brand should be used across different channels and touchpoints.
For more advanced engagements, we also develop design systems that help teams apply the brand consistently at scale. These systems define reusable components, layout structures, and visual rules that make it easier to maintain consistency across marketing, product, and digital experiences.
The depth of both the guidelines and system depends on the branding package:
- Brand Core includes a concise one-page micro brand guide covering logo usage, colors, and typography.
- Brand Orbit includes a structured brand guideline document and introduces elements of a design system to support consistent application.
- Brand Legacy includes a comprehensive brand guidelines along with a more robust design system that defines visual components, usage patterns, and implementation guidance.
We provide both website design and development.
Our team designs high-performing websites focused on user experience, brand clarity, and conversion. These designs can be created for websites on any platform.
When it comes to development, we exclusively build websites in Webflow, which allows us to deliver fast, scalable sites that are easy for your team to manage. If your website needs to live on a different platform, we provide fully prepared design files and collaborate closely with your development team to ensure a smooth implementation.
To ensure a smooth and fruitful creative process, we need:
For Design Subscription plans:
- Brand guidelines
- The first design project
- A rough project pipeline so we can match you with the best creative experts based on your specific needs.
For Branding Projects: Our branding projects begin with a simple onboarding process designed to help us understand your business, audience, and goals. After signing our contract, you’ll complete a short online questionnaire and share a few key inputs that guide the creative and strategic direction of the project.
The information we gather helps us build a brand that accurately reflects your business, resonates with your audience, and supports your long-term growth. Providing these insights early also helps ensure the project runs smoothly, avoids unnecessary delays, and allows us to deliver meaningful results as efficiently as possible.
The specific inputs we request vary slightly depending on the branding package you select:
Brand Core For Brand Core projects, we gather foundational inputs that guide the visual identity process, such as a brief description of your brand, personality or tone, inspiration references, and any competitors or brands you admire.
Brand Orbit Brand Orbit includes a light strategy phase. In addition to foundational brand inputs, we ask for information about your audience, positioning, and business goals. Our team then develops these insights into a structured brand strategy before moving into design.
Brand Legacy Brand Legacy includes a full strategy workshop. We collaborate closely with your leadership team to explore your brand’s positioning, audience, goals, and market landscape. This process allows us to develop a comprehensive strategy that informs the full visual and messaging system.
If you don’t have all of this information ready, don’t worry - our team will guide you through the process and help you develop the inputs needed to move forward.
For Web Design & Development Projects For website projects, we begin with a simple onboarding process to understand your goals, content, and technical requirements. This helps us design a website that reflects your brand and supports your marketing objectives.
During onboarding, we typically gather a few key inputs such as your website structure (sitemap), existing website copy or messaging, brand guidelines, examples of websites you like, and any integrations or functionality your site may require.
If some of these elements are still being developed, don’t worry. Our team can help refine your sitemap, guide content structure, and collaborate with you throughout the process to ensure the final website supports your business and marketing goals.
No problem.
At NoBoringDesign, we often help clients develop the materials needed to move forward - whether that’s brand strategy, messaging, or website structure. The required inputs are confirmed during onboarding so projects can start smoothly.
Just get in touch and we’ll figure it out together.
Once your agreement is signed, we begin by introducing you to your dedicated Project Manager, who will guide you through the onboarding process and serve as your main point of contact.
Next, you’ll complete a short onboarding process where we gather the key information and materials needed to start your engagement. This may include brand inputs, project priorities, or website requirements depending on the type of work we’re beginning together.
Once these inputs are in place, we schedule a kickoff session to align on goals, scope, timelines, and workflows. From there, we begin executing the work and collaborating closely with your team.
For design subscriptions, this typically evolves into regular working sessions, proactive communication from your NBD Project Manager, and periodic account reviews to ensure your creative priorities are supported.
When working with NoBoringDesign, you’ll have a dedicated team supporting your projects. This includes a Project Manager who oversees timelines and communication, a Creative Lead who ensures quality and strategic alignment, and a specialized group of designers depending on your engagement.
Your Project Manager will proactively keep everything moving forward, communicate timelines and expectations, and ensure the process runs smoothly from start to finish.
For day-to-day collaboration, you’ll have access to a shared workspace where requests, feedback, and updates are organized in one place. We typically use tools such as Asana for project management, Slack for quick communication, and Figma for design collaboration so you can easily review progress and leave feedback directly on the work.
We also offer weekly or biweekly check-ins to review progress, discuss feedback, and plan upcoming projects.
Providing feedback is simple and organized. Most feedback is shared directly within your project workspace, where you can comment on tasks or leave notes on designs as they’re presented.
You can also communicate with your Project Manager through Slack or during our regular check-ins. Our goal is to keep feedback clear and consolidated so projects move forward efficiently.
Revision rounds depend on the type of engagement and the scope of the project.
For most subscription design and copywriting projects, we typically include up to two revision rounds to ensure feedback is incorporated while keeping projects moving efficiently.
For fixed-scope projects such as branding, revision rounds vary by package. Each branding package includes defined revision rounds for key deliverables such as mood boards, logo concepts, and brand guidelines.
To ensure a smooth process and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth, we always recommend:
- Creating a detailed brief with clear objectives from the start
- Gathering consolidated feedback from your team during each revision round
Your Project Manager will guide you through the revision process at the start of the project so expectations are clear for everyone involved.
Our plans are designed to stay flexible as your creative needs evolve.
If your team needs more creative capacity or specialized support, you can upgrade your plan at any time during your active contract term. Simply let your Project Manager know and we’ll handle the transition.
If your needs change, you can adjust your plan or cancel your design subscription at the end of the current service term. We ask for 15 days’ written notice prior to renewal so we can schedule a brief account review, discuss your experience working with NBD, and align on any changes moving forward.
We work hard to ensure that every team member at NBD meets your creative needs. Should you have a need to change designers, you can get in touch with your Project Manager and they will assess the situation and recommend the best solution for you.
